Acta Medica Mediterranea is an independent, international, English-language, peer-reviewed journal, online and open-access, designed for internists and physicians. The journal publishes a variety of manuscript types, including review articles, original research, case reports and letters to the editor. Carbone Editions evolved from the scientific journal Sicilian Archives of Medicine and Surgery founded in 1960 after the death of Professor Carmelo Pennino. The Archives were registered with the city of Palermo, Italy on the 29th of October 1960 (32/60). The journal Acta Medica Mediterranea (ISSN 0393-6384), with its own scientific director and scientific committee chosen from the most highly respected representatives of their fields, is part of the publishing group. In more than 40 years of activity we have published monographs, conference reports, and university textbooks. Today we offer not only the traditional integrity of our long reputation but also all the opportunities that modern communication technology makes possible.
