Ji Zhou is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.Over 30 years, he has engaged in the research of metamaterials, photonic materials, as well as functional ceramic materials and devices. He invented high-performance low-temperature sintered ferrites and low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) dielectrics for chip electronic components and passive integration. He proposed a strategy to create new functional materials by merging of metamaterials and conventional materials, and developed a series of novel materials, including ceramic based isotropic and tunable electromagnetic metamaterials, giant magneto-dielectric metamaterials, metamaterial photomemristors, isotropic negative thermal expansion metamaterials, metamaterial all-optical switching, and metamaterials with artifical optical nonlinerity and direct photoelectric conversion. He has published over 400 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and hold over 50 patents, and wined of National Award of Natural Science (2016) and National Award of Technology Invention (2005). He is the chairman of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory for New Ceramics and Fine Processing, the chairman of the Metamaterial Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society(C-MRS), the chairman of the Science and Technology Committee of the China Electronic Components Industry Association.
