Dr. Xiaolu Zhu is currently an associate professor at Hohai University, China. He graduated from Southeast University in 2007 and obtained the PhD degree in 2014. He worked as a research scholar of mechanical and aerospace engineering department, and chemical and biomolecular engineering department at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from Sep. 2011 to Dec. 2013.
He is currently working on the interdisciplinary areas incorporating engineering and bioscience, especially the micro-nano bio-systems involving cell-hydrogel interaction and biomechanics/ mechanobiology in 3D/4D, which can be applied in cyborg and bionic systems, and artificially living micro-structure regeneration.
He is awarded by several key research grants including the national Natural Science Foundation of China-General Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China-Youth Program, Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province. Dr. Zhu established the biofabrication and bio-mechanical laboratory in Hohai University,and he has published articles in the journals: Biomaterials, Biofabrication, Advanced Materials Interfaces, Journal of Biological Engineering, Progress in Biophysics and Molecular biology, SLAS Discovery, Microfluidics& Nanofluidics, Biomicrofluidics, ACS applied bio materials, Science China-E and Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
