Muliang Zhang Professor Prof. Dr. Muliang Zhang Research Group

Prof. Dr. Muliang Zhang was born and raised in Shandong Province, China. Zhang pursued his PhD degree with Prof. Dr. Chengjian Zhu at Nanjing University and his research field included radical chemistry and photochemistry. From 2019 to 2020, he was engaged in postdoctoral research at National University of Singapore under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jie Wu. Then, funded by Alexander von Humboldt fellowship, Dr. Muliang Zhang conducted research project as a postdoctoral in the Oestreich's laboratory at Technische Universität Berlin During the period of 2021 to 2023. His research results have been published in some important science journals, such as Nat Chem., Nat. Synth., Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. etc. In 2023. 07, Zhang was selected as the "Hundred-Talent Program" and back to China to join University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) to carry out independent research work. Professor Zhang's research team is interested in organometallic chemistry, transition metal catalysis, organic synthesis methodology, synthesis of bioactive compounds and chiral drugs.

The research is focused on the development of new organometallic reagents and effective catalytic systems, investigations into their activation mode, as well as on applications to the synthesis of structurally complex targets of biological significance.
