Professor
School of pharmacy, Nanchang University
Dr. Xiaodong Xiong obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry at Nanchang University in 2005. While at Nanchang University, he conducted undergraduate research in the laboratory of Prof. Yongxiu Li, focusing on preparation and characterization of Ce-Zr complex oxide. In the fall of 2006, he began master studies at Fudan University under the direction of Prof. Fen-er Chen. During this period, he conducted the studies on asymmetric total synthesis of 20-(S)-Camptothecins. Upon completion of his master studies in 2009, he then pursued his doctoral degree under the supversion of Prof. Dawei Ma at Fudan University in the area of copper catalyzed Ullmann coupling reactions to construct C-N bonds. In 2013, he moved to The Chinese University of Hongkong to start postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Prof. Henry N.C. Wong. The research focus was on the total synthesis of non-natural products. In Apr. 2015, He then commenced his second postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Ying-Yeung Yeung, in the field of halogenation and asymmetric synthesis. In Aug. 2019, he accepted an appointment at Nanchang University, where he is a professor in the School of Pharmacy.
