Jie received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Nanjing University (NJU) in 2009. Upon graduation, he moved to Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) and earned his Ph.D. in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Guo-Qiang Lin. After a short stay in the same group at SIOC, he moved to the US in 2015 pursuing his postdoctoral studies with Professor Phil Baran in The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI). In the beginning of 2019, he moved to the Calibr division of TSRI for a second postdoctoral experience and studied MedChem from Mike Petrassi (VP of Calibr). In October of 2019, Jie moved back to China and joined the faculty at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Science.
