Zhichao Zhou
Associate Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor under the "Hundred Talents Program" at Shenzhen University. Dr. Zhou earned his undergraduate degree from Wuhan University and his Ph.D. from The University of Hong Kong. Between 2017 and 2023, he conducted postdoctoral research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and served as an Assistant Scientist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research focuses on deep-sea hydrothermal microbiomes and viromes.
Dr. Zhou has made significant contributions to environmental microbiome/virome analytical methods and studies on microbial/viral roles in carbon and sulfur cycling. He has published over 50 SCI papers (20+ as first/co-first author), including works in The ISME Journal (4), Nature Communications (1 co-first), Microbiome (1 co-first, 1 first), Nature Reviews Microbiology, and FEMS Microbiology Reviews. His H-index is 28, with over 3,700 citations.
He has received numerous honors, including the 2024 Overseas Outstanding Youth Award, the Marine Power Youth Scientist Nomination, and the Guangdong Pearl River Talents Youth Scholar Award.
