2024-MAY-22 Nano Materials Science: Perovskite Materials for Highly Efficient Photo(electro)catalytic Water Splitting: A mini-review
发布时间:2024-05-22

In this review, we delve into the realm of perovskite materials, which have garnered significant attention due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties that have already demonstrated remarkable efficiency leaps in solar cells. Our focus is on the burgeoning application of perovskites in the photo(electro)catalytic water splitting. We create a summary of three aspects of system delivery strategies (including intrinsic modulation, functionalization, and tandem system design) to address these challenges. In addition, our review in systematically analyses the research progress of perovskite materials in photoelectrochemical water splitting and comprehensively compares the similarities and differences between the two major classes of perovskites, perovskite oxides and halide perovskites. Moreover, for the application of perovskites in the field of photo(electro)catalytic water splitting, we also highlight the pressing need for improved stability, system efficiency, and a theoretical framework that could pave the way for large-scale commercial applications of perovskite-based technologies. Our comprehensive review not only presents a current snapshot of the field but also provides insightful outlooks and design strategies that can accelerate the advancement of perovskite materials for sustainable energy applications.
