My research interest has focused on the physical chemistry of organic/hybrid optoelectronic materials with the long-term goal to address the related fundamental issues since I started my independent research in Tsinghua in 2008. Organic/hybrid optoelectronic materials have shown great promise for flat panel displays, lightings, solar cells, biosensor, etc., as they can offer thinner, lighter, low-cost and intrinsically flexible devices compared to inorganic counterparts. However, their key performance factors, such as efficiency and stability, need to be improved to unlock their full-potentials. We aim to elucidate the relationship between multi-level material structure and optoelectronic properties, establish guiding principles for rational material design, and to initiate new fields of research in materials and chemistry science. My group has devoted great efforts to address the critical stability issues of organic/hybrid optoelectronic materials and devices, and to overcome the limitation of energy gap law to realize high-efficiency near-infrared organic emitters.
