Structure and Mechanism of Class Ⅱ CRISPR-CAS Systems
发布时间:2020-12-22

On December 10, 2020, an academic report meeting on "Structure and Mechanism of Class Ⅱ CRISPR-CAS Systems" was launched in the West Hall of Northwestern Polytechnical University. The meeting was presided over by Dean Yin Dachuan of the School of Life Sciences of Northwestern Polytechnical University. The speaker is Zhang Bo, an associate researcher at the School of Life Sciences, Fujian Normal University.

Associate researcher Zhang Bo obtained his Ph.D. from Laval University School of Medicine in Canada and completed his postdoctoral training at the Beijing Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Currently working in the College of Life Sciences, Fujian Normal University. His main research directions are the structural biology of the innate immune system and the structural biology of ribonucleoprotein complexes; the main research results have been published in academic journals such as Cell Research, Nature Communications, and Biochemical Journal. The main content of this academic report involves the structure basis and working principle of the second major type of Cas effector protein (such as Cas9, Cas12a, Casl3a, etc.). In addition, the second major type of new CRISPR-Cas system has been continuously excavated and reported (such as Casl2g, Cas13b, Casl3dCasl4a, etc.). The reporter Zhang Bo combined with the research work already carried out to analyze and discuss the respective characteristics of the new CRISPR-CAS system. Distinctive features, working principle and application scenarios.

The second category of CRISPR-Cas systems has great application value and prospects in the fields of biology and medicine. The conduct of this conference promoted in-depth exchanges and cooperation between teachers and students in the field of structural biology and colleagues from other universities, broadened everyone's horizons, and promoted the development of interdisciplinary biology. This conference not only has the devotion of the speaker, but also the whole heart of the listener. At the meeting, teachers and students participating in the meeting actively asked questions and had in-depth exchanges.
