Qiang WU Assistant Professor, Adjunct Associate Researcher XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy
Dr. Qiang Wu received his PhD degree from Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health (original name: Institute of Health Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He investigated the efficacy and mechanisms of stem cell-derived cardiovascular cells and extracellular vesicles in repairing infarcted hearts during PhD study. He has experience on research and development (R&D) in drug discovery, having worked at a large CRO company and biotechs. Before joining Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, he served as Associate Director & Project Leader in gene therapy, responsible for project evaluation, discovery and development of new AAV-based gene therapy products in rare genetic diseases. Currently, Dr. Wu is interested in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), extracellular vesicles (EVs), and gene therapy. He focuses on analysis and engineering of EVs for drug delivery, generating cell-based disease model from hPSCs for drug screening, cell and gene therapy development for some disease.
