1946-1950浙江大学化学系，获学士学位
1956-1960前苏联莫斯科大学生物系，获哲学博士学位
1960-今中国科学院生物物理研究所，曾任中国科学院生物物理所副所长、生物大分子国家重点实验室学术委员会主任，现任研究员、生物大分子国家重点实验室名誉主任。
1991年当选为中国科学院学部委员（中国科学院院士）
研究领域
长期从事生物膜的研究工作，并以膜脂-蛋白质相互作用为主线，特别关注细胞内膜系统（线粒体、溶酶体等）对重要细胞生命活动的调控机制
