A tunable hydrophobic protrusion was created on Janus particles to regulate the nanoparticle-cell membrane interactions. When the Janus particle contacts cell membrane, the protrusion will induce membrane wrapping, lead the particle to dock to the membrane, and then draw the whole particle into the cell, improving the efficiencies of both membrane-anchoring and cellular internalization.
