The heteroatom effect on the chiroptical property of X-shaped double hetero[7]helicene was first investigated by comparing double oxa[7]helicene with newly synthesized double thia/sulfone[7]helicenes. Upon variation of the embedded heteroatoms from oxygen to sulfur, the circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) of these double heterohelicenes were significantly red-shifted, along with the improved luminescence dissymmetry factors.
