Coordinatively unsaturated aluminum anchored Ru cluster for catalytic hydrogenation of benzene
u Amorphous alumina with 62% penta-coordinated Al3+ was prepared via solution combustion synthesis.
u With Ru loading of 1 wt%, high dispersion was obtained (Particle size of 0.93 nm).
u High TOF (5 times higher than commercial catalyst) of hydrogenation of benzene was achieved.
u DFT calculation suggest Ru2/ Al3+penta site is the most stable configuration over Ru/CUA.
u Ru2/ Al3+penta with high adsorption energy of benzene exhibits high catalytic activity.
uThis strategy is also applicable to the dispersion of Pd catalyst.
