Dr. Xufeng Qiu obtained his Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the Scripps Research Institute and Johns Hopkins University with Dr. UliMueller. Currently, Dr. Qiu is a Research Associate in the Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Qiu’s research focuses on the mechanisms of hereditary deafness and the molecular mechanisms by which the inner ear perceives sound information. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach that includes molecular biology, biochemistry, and electrophysiology, Dr. Qiu systematically investigates the molecular identities and gating mechanisms of mechanosensitive channels in cochlear hair cells. His work provides critical insights into the fundamental aspects of mechano-sensation and hearing.
