Shen Zhichuan published a paper on the gel electrolyte based on free radical in-situ polymerization for lithium metal batteries in the ACS Applied Materials&Interfaces. In this work, the precursor solution containing pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETEA), electrolyte (TCGG) and initiator azodiisobutyronitrile (AIBN) was infiltrated into polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanospun membrane, and PETEA-TCG-PAN was prepared by in-situ polymerization. This system constructs an efficient ion transport channel by the oxygen atom of PETEA molecular chain and the nitrile group of PAN, which is conducive to the efficient migration of Li+. The tLi+and σ is 0.77 and 1.48 × 10-3 S cm-1, respectively. This advantage enables the NCM811 | PETEA-TCGG-PAN | Li battery to circulate stably for 120 cycles under the constant current charge and discharge of 2C at 30 ℃ and , and the capacity retention rate reaches 89%. Even at 6C current density, it has the 101.47 mAh g-1 discharge specific capacity . When PETEA-TCGG-PAN is matched with commercial LFP, it can stably circulate for 150 times at 0.5C, and the capacity retention rate of 90%. This work provides an effective method for building an efficient Li+ transport channel, which substantially improves the efficiency of Li+ transport.
