Liankun Zhang, a first year master's student of our research group, has published a paper as the first author in the journal of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Region II under the supervision of Mr Lu Hailin. The paper describes a nearly pure MgF2 coating named PEF, which was prepared on the surface of AZ31 magnesium alloy in non-aqueous electrolyte using a novel coating preparation technique called plasma electrolytic fluorination (PEF). In addition, a modified MgF2 coating, named PEF-P, was also prepared by adding an appropriate amount of H3PO4 to the non-aqueous electrolyte. The wear resistance of the different coatings was evaluated by friction experiments under various lubrication conditions, and their corrosion resistance was tested by corrosion experiments. The results showed that the PEF coatings initially exhibited superior acid corrosion resistance compared to the PEF-P coatings.Liankun Zhang a, Hailin Lu a, *, Bo Cheng a, Yipu Ding a, Hao Yang a, b, *.
