Although the microarc oxidation (MAO) technique can significantly improve the properties of metals, the numerous variables involved in the preparation of microarc oxidation coatings lead to inconsistent performance. In this study, MAO coatings were prepared using single and dual current methods with different current parameters. The effect of these methods on the coating properties was investigated. The results show that the coatings prepared by the reduced current method in dual current mode have excellent wear and corrosion resistance. The article explains the mechanism of action of this method in detail, which provides new ideas and methods to improve the performance of MAO coatings in a simple and effective way.
