Phase-change materials (PCMs) offer a transformative approach to reconfigurable photonics, enabling dynamic control over optical properties such as refractive index, absorption, and reflectivity. This workshop will explore the integration of PCMs into photonic devices for next-generation optical computing. With their ability to switch between amorphous and crystalline states, PCMs can realize non-volatile, compact, and energy-efficient photonic components, including switches, modulators, and memory elements. We will discuss recent advancements in materials engineering, device architectures, and fabrication techniques that optimize PCMbased photonics for computational applications. Emphasis will be placed on key challenges such as scalability, endurance, and integration with silicon photonics platforms. Participants will gain insights into how reconfigurable photonic systems can revolutionize data processing, offering faster, more efficient alternatives to traditional electronic computing. This workshop aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in the development of optical computing technologies using PCMs.
