Our lab holds a scientific discussion with three undergraduate students from the physics, biology, and mathematics departments of Wuhan University.
The topics involve modeling living systems and materials physics in colloids. Dr. Li expressed his opinions about a good model for living systems: focusing on biological functions, inspiring the design of artificial systems, and being aware of the complexity of living systems. Dr. Li emphasized the investigation at the basic science level for condensed matter physics in colloidal systems. Using sleet as an example, Dr. Li explained vividly how the fundamental principles could help solve problems in daily life.
The undergraduate students asked questions about the scientific topics they were interested in. Yeqing and Mingyang shared their works about collective cell behaviors and animal groups. The discussion ended up with a pleasant lab tour.
