In order to encourage a healthy lifestyle and a love for sports among teachers and students, the Guangzhou International Campus of South China University of Technology hosted the "Make Friends with Balls, Feather Together - Graduate Badminton Friendship Tournament" finals at the International Campus Gymnasium on May 21, 2024. The competition featured five events: mixed doubles, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles. Badminton enthusiasts from the research group teamed up with Professor Xu Shidang's research group to participate in the tournament. During the competition, teachers and students from the research group displayed a spirit of perseverance. After multiple thrilling matches, they achieved excellent results, earning the runner-up title as a team and fully demonstrating their proactive and enterprising spirit.

Mixed Doubles:

Players: Yang Zhengyu (Postdoctoral) & Tan Fengming (Ph.D. student), Zhang Yang (Master's student) & Tan Fengming (Ph.D. student), Wei Shuzhen (Master's student) & Gao Yating (Master's student)

In the first match, Yang Zhengyu and Tan Fengming competed fiercely against the Microelectronics Institute research group, winning with a score of 21-13 after an intense battle. In the second match, Wei Shuzhen and Gao Yating engaged in a back-and-forth duel, with our team scoring multiple precise shots while the opponents pursued steadily. In the third match, Zhang Yang and Tan Fengming gained an advantage through seamless cooperation and rapid attacks but ultimately fell slightly short against strong opponents. In the fourth match against a team from the Oceanography Institute, Yang Zhengyu and Tan Fengming wore down their opponents with clever and agile movements, solid net skills, and counterattacks, securing another victory.

Men's Singles:

Player: Jiang Tianshen (Master's student)

In the men's singles, both players demonstrated high-intensity attacks and excellent physical fitness on the court. Ultimately, Jiang Tianshen defeated his opponent with a score of 21-13, earning the first point. In the second match against the Oceanography Institute opponent, the competition was intense and evenly matched. After a fierce struggle and numerous exchanges, Jiang Tianshen narrowly lost with a score of 19-21.

Women's Singles:

Players: Gao Yating (Master's student), Tan Fengming (Ph.D. student)

The women's singles finals also witnessed two intense matches. In the first match, Gao Yating demonstrated powerful offensive firepower and stable defense, gaining an advantage with consecutive attacking points. In the second match, Tan Fengming showcased overwhelming strength, scoring continuously through simple defensive variations and securing victory with a huge advantage of 21-7.

Men's Doubles:

Players: Professor Xu Shidang / Xu Bin (Ph.D. student)

In the men's doubles finals, both teams engaged in a tough battle. With fierce playing styles and intense technical confrontations, Professor Xu and Xu Bin displayed excellent coordination and strong attacking prowess, scoring multiple points with backcourt smashes and ultimately securing victory.
