Rare earth sulfides are environmentally friendly and have excellent physical optoelectronic properties and coloring applications. In particular, red γ-Ce2S3 is an important and popular inorganic optical functional material. However, it has become crucial to improve the production efficiency of γ-Ce2S3 and its color performance and stability. By adding ammonium thiocyanate to the precursor, eco-friendly γ-Ce2S3 with excellent color performance was produced in this study. In addition, the effect of different amounts of Na+ doping on the final product’s purity and the effect of chroma value were systematically investigated. Results show that an increase in Na+ can effectively lower the synthesis temperature of γ-Ce2S3, improve production efficiency, and optimize color performance prior to saturation. Due to their non-toxicity, good light resistance, and weather resistance, inorganic rare earth sulfide colorant materials hold promise for
coatings, outdoor displays, and other applications. However, developing additional types of rare earth sulfide colorants and their
environmentally friendly preparation processes remains challenging. We have successfully prepared a series of cerium sulfide colorant
powders in this study using the hydrothermal method and chemical doping engineering. The effect of La3+ doping concentration on

Description
Radiation cooling technology can effectively reduce the energy transmission of the sun to the building during the day, thus playing a certain positive role in alleviating the urban heat island effect and reducing energy consumption. In this study, red Nd-doped γ-Ce2S3 and orange La-doped γ-Ce2S3 were prepared by the green synthesis method, and their morphologies and optical properties were systematically studied. The color film produced by mixing the prepared microcrystalline powder with poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoro propylene) at a certain proportion has near-infrared reflectivity and superior environmental resistance, achieving effective cooling of 3–6 °C when applied to the building surface. This study expands ideas for energy-efficient building materials and enriches the path to a carbon neutral sustainable future.
