Our first work on photoenzymatic catalysis has been published in JACS, congratulations to Qinglong Shi!
Qinglong is the first PhD student of the group and knew nothing about enzyme when he started the project about three years ago. With the help of our colleagues, Prof. Bei Ding and Prof. Shaobo Dai, and their postdocs and students, Qinglong slowly learned how to make enzymes and their mutants and eventually achieved this single-electron oxidation-initiated enantioselective hydrosulfonylation reaction. It is a small step for the field of photoenzymatic catalysis, but one giant leap for our research group.
