【Year-end summary】2021 annual work summary of the BMTM research group

With the help of BMTMers and collaborators, the research group has gradually changed from "standing firm" to "seeking progress in stability" to "riding on the momentum" in three years. Looking back on 2021, the BMTM team worked hard, instead of slacking off, and "Everything comes to him who waits ", and achieved satisfactory results.

1. Team members

In 2021, there are a total of 41 people in the BMTM research group, namely PI Qihui Zhou, 3 assistant professors, 1 pharmacist in charge, 1 assistant researcher, 3 doctoral students, 12 graduate students, and 20 undergraduate students. The research direction of the research group is guided by the actual rigid needs of clinical practice, with the help of chemistry, materials science, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, cell and molecular biology, clinical medicine and other multidisciplinary intersections, with advanced biomedical materials as tools to focus on the interaction between biomaterial interfaces and (stem) cells, controlled drug release systems, tissue repair and regeneration, antibacterial/cancer, hemostasis and other aspects of basic and applied research. It has established an interdisciplinary comprehensive research platform and R&D team integrating material synthesis, modification, testing and biological evaluation and clinical research.

2. Scientific research

In 2021, the research group published a total of 16 SCI papers and 1 book chapter, all papers with an impact factor greater than 5 and more than the second region of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 6 papers in the first region of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a total of 4 papers with an impact factor greater than 10, a maximum impact factor of 60.62 (cover papers), and a cumulative impact factor of 187. Added 3 ESI highly cited papers and 1 hot paper. So far, the research group has published a total of 53 SCI papers, with a total of 1392 citations  .The research group work has also been widely cited by many top magazines such as Nature Reviews Chemistry, Advanced Materials, Biomaterials, etc., and has been highlighted and recommended by domestic and foreign media. In terms of patents, the research group authorized 1 invention patent this year, applied for 1 international invention PCT patent and 4 Chinese invention patents.

2. The research group participated in the "Micro and Nano Technology and Medical Health Innovation Conference (2021) and the 5th Micro and Nano Technology Application Innovation Conference of the Chinese Society of Micro and Nanotechnology"

       On May 31, 2021, the members of the research group participated in the "Micro and Nano Technology and Medical Health Innovation Conference (2021) and the Fifth Micro and Nano Technology Application Innovation Conference of the China Society of Micro and Nanotechnology" held in Shanghai, and were invited to give an oral report on "Artificial Molecular Motors for Regulating the Fate of Mesenchymal Stem Cells". Mei Li and Danyang Wang made a poster display.The conference was hosted by the China Society for Micro and Nanotechnology and co-hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the National Engineering Research Center for Nanotechnology and Applications. 3. The research group participated in the "China Biomaterials Conference"

     Qihui Zhou led the students to participate in the "China Biomaterials Conference" held in Shanghai from October 11 to 14, 2021, and Danyang Wang and Mingzhe Yan made a poster display.Hosted by the Chinese Society of Biomaterials (CSBM), hosted by Shanghai University and East China University of Science and Technology, and co-organized by Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co., Ltd., with the theme of "Biomaterials: Innovative Development, Serving Health", the conference focuses on the frontier direction, research hotspots and latest progress of biomaterials, and pays attention to the transformation and supervision of relevant achievements in the field.The conference specially invited academician Xingdong Zhang, academician Yingjun Wang, academician Changsheng Liu and other nearly 60 academicians, Jie Qing and Yangtze River scholars, which lasted for 3 days and was divided into 20 sub-venues, 20 themes and 101 wonderful reports.As an interdisciplinary biomaterials in the field of biomedicine has been more and more widely used, the combination of biomaterials and medical health can solve problems in the fields of biology, medicine, public health and other fields, with a wide range of application prospects and far-reaching significance.

4. Qihui Zhou was invited to participate in the "Oriental Precision Medicine Summit Forum and the First Gastrointestinal Surgery Youth Forum"

        On December 4, 2021, Professor Zhou Qihui was invited to participate in the "Oriental Precision Medicine Summit Forum and the First Smart Gastrointestinal Surgery Youth Forum" held in Qingdao, and gave an oral report on "Application of Biofunctional Hydrogel in Tissue Trauma".The conference was attended by Professor Xuan Dong, President of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, and Vice President of Qingdao UniversityProfessor Hong Jiang, a specially appointed expert of Taishan Scholars in Shandong Province, delivered a welcome speech.Through expert lectures, academic reports by young scholars, and discussions at the venue, this series of conferences aims to promote the exchange of scholars in the basic research of precision medicine and clinical diagnosis and treatment technology, and promote the landing and transformation of precision medicine scientific research innovations.

5. Professor Zhou Qihui presided over the "3rd China-Japan-Korea Young Physicians Forum" in English

        On December 4, 2021, Professor Zhou Qihui presided over the "3rd China-Japan-Korea Young Physicians Forum Conference" in English and commented on the reporters in English.The forum was presided over by Professor Xiaoming Xing, Assistant Director of the Medical Department of Qingdao University, Assistant Dean of Qingdao University Medical Group, and Director of the Department of Scientific Research and Foreign Affairs of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University.Adhering to the spirit of innovation and cooperation, keeping up with the forefront of the times, basing on clinical work practice, focusing on scientific research and academic development, and jointly improving the ability and level of clinical scientific research, this forum has enhanced the friendship between young physicians in China, Japan and South Korea, and laid a solid foundation for the future development of the hospital.

EighthTeam building and attention

1. The research group roared in team building

 In order to let the students relax in the heavy scientific research, narrow the distance between teachers, students and classmates, and feel the beauty of scientific research life, the BMTM research group launched the team building activity on October 7, 2021.Members gathered together to enjoy leisure time, unleash the pressure of deposition, and take the opportunity to feel relaxed in the midst of laughter and laughter.After the preparation work is completed, everyone enjoys the hot pot dinner while chatting about learning and life, and the warm dining table is a happy and harmonious big family;After drinking and eating, everyone entered the wonderful and rich after-dinner activities:Thrilling blindfolding, testing and condensing leggings forward, hula hoop passing for competitive speed, male and female division of labor pitching, and so on.

       This team-building activity alleviated the fatigue of the members of the research group who are usually devoted to scientific research work, and the simple small game not only shortened the distance between each other, but also improved the cohesion of the research group, laying a solid foundation for better scientific research work in the future.

NinthYear-end summary of the research group

        On the morning of January 21, 2022, the "Big Butler" Dou Keke organized and presided over the BMTM year-end summary meeting.The conference included four links: watching the opening video, student work summary and prospect, undergraduate talent show and Qihui Zhou 's year-end summary, at the same time, the research group also prepared BMTM customized experimental clothes and U disks, snack packages and other surprises for everyone. BMTMer sorts out its own gains and insights from the aspects of scientific research, clinical, and life, summarizes its own shortcomings, and also formulates new plans and New Year's goals for itself.After the reportThe undergraduate students of the research group brought wonderful performances such as songs, magic tricks, and sketches to everyone.Everyone tasted the custom cake while cheering for the show, pushing the conference atmosphere to a climax. At last, Qihui Zhou reviewed and summarized the achievements and harvests of the 2021 BMTM research group . On the one hand, it affirms the struggle of BMTMers in the past year, on the other hand, it also looks forward to the new chapter that will be opened soon, and believes that BMTM will continue to work hard in 2022, seek steady progress and continue to create good results.

Outlook for 2022

        2021 is a year of continuous learning for BMTMers and a year of harvest.
