Phytopathology considers research manuscripts that significantly advance our understanding of the nature of plant diseases, the agents that cause them, the factors that affect their occurrence and spread, the losses they cause, and measures used to control them. The journal covers all aspects of plant diseases including bacteriology, mycology, virology, nematology, postharvest pathology, plant stress and abiotic disorders, bioinformatics and computational plant pathology, biological control and microbial ecology, disease control and integrated management (including biotechnological approaches), ecology and epidemiology, etiology, population biology, genetics and genomics of pathogens, plants and vectors, mathematical and theoretical plant pathology, molecular and physiological plant pathology, and mycotoxins and human pathogens on plants. Subject matter is not a criterion for judging the merit of an article for publication in Phytopathology; however, it is the author’s duty to establish relevance to the science of plant pathology.
