Javid 实验室研究的主要病原为结核分枝杆菌，该病原目前仍是中国乃至世界范围内最重要的病原微生物。Javid 实验室有两个基本的研究方向，即基因翻译调控和结核分枝杆菌的病理生理研究。 1. 结核分枝杆菌抗生素耐药性的分子机制； 2. 分枝杆菌、人体和包括果蝇在内的模式生物的翻译保真度调控； 3. 机体对于结核分枝杆菌的保护性免疫的构成； 4. 开发加速结核病治疗周期的新疗法。
