Prof. Hu leads the tumor gene function study group with a focus on novel targets that modulate mechanisms of drug resistance and cancer metastasis, the leading reasons for the resultant mortality of patients with cancer. The group currently uses a combination of cellular and molecular strategies, animal tumor models and human samples to work on the following specific issues in the field: 1. The activation and function of oncogenes, as exampled by ASPP family proteins 2. The roles and mechanisms of long non coding RNA (lncRNA) in cancer 3. The interconnection between tumor cell and tumor microenvironment
