1、海洋环流动力学
热带印太海洋环流（印尼贯穿流与热带太平洋西边界流）的多尺度变化特征、动力学机制、热盐输运和气候效应。
2、海洋盐度过程
热带印太海域的盐度过程基本特征、时空变化、物理机制，及其对海洋环流和气候系统的影响。
3、区域和全球气候变化
印太和全球气候系统的多时间尺度变化，重点关注印太海域季节内变化、年际变化以及全球变暖背景下印太至全球海域的气候与海洋环境变化及其对人类的影响。
