1982-07, 西北工业大学，电子工程专业学士学位 1985-05, 西北工业大学，电子工程专业硕士学位 1990-01, 大连理工大学，计算力学专业博士学位 1990-1992, 中国科学院北京天文台博士后 1992.11-1999.3, 中国科学院北京天文台副研究员 1995-1996, 日本国立天文台外籍研究员 1996.7-1997.8, 德国Wuerzburg大学天文研究所洪堡学者（ Alexander von Humboldt Fellow）. 1999.3至今, 先后任中国科学院国家天文台台长助理、研究员、太阳物理研究部主任、太阳活动研究团组首席研究员，中国科学院太阳活动重点实验室主任。

担任世界空间研究学会（WISER）太阳和日球工作组召集人及编辑委员会委员、国际日地物理委员会（SCOSTEP）科学专业代表（2008-）、国际无线电科联（URSI）射电天文分会中国代表、国际天文联合会（IAU）日食工作组委员（2006-），太阳活动委员会组委（2009-）等职。2012年在第28届国际天文学联合会大会上当选为太阳与日球专业委员会的副主席，任期为2012-2015年。
