上海市规划委员会专家咨询委员会专家。中国地理学会理事、中国城市规划学会理事、上海城市经济学会常务理事。曾担任2010年上海世博会主题演绎顾问，上海市政府决策咨询特聘专家，中国地理学会城市地理专业委员会主任。英国伦敦政治经济学院访问学者；法国巴黎第一大学、日本明治大学、香港大学、香港中文大学、台湾政治大学访问教授。中国城市研究》主编，《人文地理》、《世界地理研究》副主编，《城市规划》、《经济地理》等杂志编委
