1987年7月在美属波多黎各大学获博士学位 1987年8月-1992年12月加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学做博士后研究和研究学者 1993年1月-2006年2月加拿大计算及其应用研究中心，任研究员 2000年2月-2000年7月北京大学教授 2000年8月-2006年2月蒙特利尔理工学院教授 2002年1月起任加拿大康克迪亚大学分子设计研究中心成员(兼职) 2003年1月-2006年1月，天津市及天津师大特聘教授（海河学者），天津大学博士生导师，生物信息与药物开发研究所所长 2006年2月起任上海交通大学生物信息与生物统计系教授，博士生导师，副主任，以及微生物代谢国家重点实验室成员 长期从事计算结构生物学与生物物理学研究，发表SCI文章250多篇， 主编专著9本，15篇邀请评述文章，参与20篇专著的有关章节编写。 论文插图三次被选为杂志封面。这些工作为国际同行所广泛引用和正面评述，经SCI检索，已累积引用超过 4500次，最高单篇他引 350多次，H 因子43。
