研究领域

Environmental and Ecohydrological context.  The extent to which organic matter decomposition generates carbon dioxide (CO2) or methane (CH4) in anaerobic ecosystems is determined by the presence or absence of alternative electron acceptors. Evaluating CO2 and CH4 production in anaerobic incubation of peat, we found (i) support for an internal cycling of sulfur, (ii) a predominance of organic matter as an electron acceptor over considered inorganic electron acceptors, and (iii) changes in organic sulfur speciation, suggesting a contribution of organic sulfur species to electron-accepting capacities.
