个人简介

Yong Wang received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Polymer Science and Engineering from Tiangong University in 1999 and 2002, respectively, and Ph. D. in Chemistry from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He worked as Research Scientist at P&G (2005-2006) and Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics (2006-2009). In the spring of 2009, he accepted a Full Professor position in the College of Chemical Engineering at Nanjing Tech University. He was granted the highly competitive National Basic Research Program of China (2015) and National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2018), and received several awards including the Chinese Chemical Society Prize for Young Scientists (2012) and National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology (2019). Starting from 2021, Prof. Wang serves as Associate Editor for Macromolecules.

Membranes separation is playing increasingly important roles in producing potable water, environment protection and remedy, and energy conversion and storage, etc. The separation performances are dictated by the size, size distribution, geometry, and chemistry of membrane pores. Our research is focused on the design, fabrication, upscaling, and applications of homoporous membranes (HOMEs). HOMEs are defined as membranes with monodispersed and through pores (the pores do not necessarily need to be cylindrical in shape), which are expected to exhibit upgraded selectivity, permeability, and fouling resistance. The preparation and functionalization of HOMEs are mainly realized by microphase separation of block copolymers (BCPs), intrinsic porosities in framework materials, e.g. covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and atomic layer deposition (ALD). Also, molecular simulation is used to investigate mass transport in HOMEs. Large-scale production of HOMEs and their applications in high-resolution separations are our primary goals. We are also developing a clean manufacturing process to polymeric membranes based on selective swelling of low-cost block copolymers.
